Boating

Thanks to its broad natural water surface, the recreational area of Štěrkoviště on the northern edge of the town of Otrokovice provides a unique opportunity for sport and relaxation. Surrounding the predominant parts of the reservoir is a recreation area with a slide and essential facilities for rest and refreshment. The Baťův kanál (Baťa Canal) is a historic water route, realized in the 1930s for increasing the depth of ground water, irrigation and boating.

Today, it is open and links 48 km of the original route of the Baťa Canal and 17 km of connected river kilometres. The towns of Otrokovice and Petrov are linked by water, with 10 locks in between them. In the vicinity of Spytihněv, it is possible to rent small boats and sail along the Baťa Canal. It is possible to take advantage of this for individual programmes, school outings, excursions, company events, presentations and weddings on boats. The regular all-day Sunday voyages – Veselí nad Moravou – Strážnice and back – are not just for family outings. This voyage also enables one to visit to the open-air museum and château, with bicycle rental for the return trip.
